One Dollar at a Time

With nearly $1 billion invested to date, Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the world's largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to curing breast cancer at every stage – from the causes, to the cures, to the pain and anxiety of every moment in between.

Empowering people, ensuring quality care for all – From major cities to small towns and everywhere in between, Komen for the Cure serves the breast health and reatment needs of millions, especially underserved women, through education and support to thousands of community health organization with grants to date of more than $480 million.

The Wyoming Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure has invested over $1.75 million in local breast health and breast cancer awareness projects in the state.

2010 Request for Applications

Filling the Need

A community needs assessment of Wyoming has determined that there is a significant need for:

  • Projects that provide screening and treatment for low-income, uninsured, under-served populations. “Under-served populations” include, but are not limited to, rural residents, migrant workers in the Big Horn Basin, Native Americans in Fremont and Hot Springs County and the Wind River Indian Reservation, Hispanics and other minorities.  Access barriers include, but are not limited to, finances, culture, insurance, travel, etc.
  • Projects that increase the awareness of younger (<40 years of age) Wyoming residents regarding the need for breast health and early detection practices  (e.g., regular self-breast exams).
  • Funding priority will be given to those projects that specifically address these needs.
